Monarch drying its wings.Newly hatched. Frequent changing of shady to sunny. Time about 2:30pm. The beauty of this newborn butterfly was exquiste. The black areas were comparable to velvet. So clean and untouched by its surroundings. This butter had not yet flown and was in pristine condition. This “baby” was a male. Look closely. A black dot is visible on each lower hindwing.
