Will Braden is the young man who initially filmed the family cat as part of an assignment while attending film school. The project received high praise and Henri the French gatto was born. Each video is solely produced by
Will Braden.
Perhaps all or most of the viewers who are fond of cats are already familiar with Henri.
Personally I find these videos hilarious and I hope that viewers of this video, will as well.

First of all, let me see if I can be the newest comment in four years, or this comment just disappears “somewhere”. I did view the entire cat video, and I have seen others in the same style and “point of view”, but generally I don’t watch internet cat videos. Oh, yes, it was very very good. High production values. You have visited my blog so much lately I feel guilty, and need to poke about here more! thanks.
Hi Greg and of course I eventually answer all comments as I have this thing set for maybe 10 years- not sure. If it would not accept a comment there would not have had a slot- at least I think that is how it works. I get comments on some way back to 5 or 6 years/. Yes they are rare but- I appreciate all comments. Some it takes me longer to reply to, depending on how I feel and other factors.
I agree that Henri is a good one and I think the people that own him live in Washington state. Not sure if Henri is still living but I hope that he is.
Never feel guilty if you don’t comment in some blogs. I have followed three bloggers for several years to several months and they never comment on mine. As I think you once wrote, your blog and my blog, are not for everyone or something to that effect. I go to the ones that entertain me or educate me.
Thank you so much for being gracious but really don’t feel the need to comment unless you are looking for info or maybe a good story. There are a few good cat stories under “The Vet’s Pets.” True stories about cats my daughter saved from death. She still has all those I have written about but some I have yet to put into story form and some that need finishing.

I’m glad you liked Henri. I think Will Braden had an ingenius idea when he made the original video for a class project while attending film school. Now his main job is making videos of Henri.
I just read a true story of two dogs living during 1920 in Austria. The dogs were friends but one day one dog was lost. The owners could not understand what had happened. After a couple of weeks or so they noticed the one dog still around leaving their farm. They decided to follow the dog which led them to a mine shaft into which the lost dog had fallen into. The dog was alive and they wondered how he had survived.
At the bottom of the shaft they found meat bones together with a puddle of rain water. It turned out the one dog had taken meat bones from the farm and dropped them down the mine-shaft to his mate. He fed his mate to keep him alive till he was rescued.
Thanks Gerard for the inspiring story of how smart dogs are and how they are capable of showing love and devotion to their own species and not just to show affection to their humans. I really liked reading about the story. Simply wonderful.

Hi Chantal. It is good to get your comment. I wish I were able to tell you what is wrong with your computer. Mine is a HP. After I log in and the screen opens up to all the icons, I go to the far right and down at the bottom I hover the coursor over those little bitty buttons like things and there is one for sound with the symbol of a speaker. Put coursor on the symbol and move the blue thing to the top. I have probably just confused you. The sound sometimes goes off on its own so you must re-adjust that little button. Do you have a neighbor that has a computer? Maybe he/she can show you.
Yes, the cat might just try to eat the birds. However in real life he is very laid back and hardly does anything other than to sleep and eat. (I have read what Will Braden has said about Henri. I think he is about 8 years old now so he hopefully should have a good 8-12 more years to live).

He has made something funny out of regular cat behavior. Of course, it is emblished to the nth degree but that is what makes Simon the cat so humorous. I adore Henri and am subscribed to his Facebook fan page!! So I see each new one when it arrives. He’s actually advertising catfood now (which I suppose helps pay for it all), but even the ads are hilarious.
So glad you’re able to see Youtube videos now, Yvonne! 🙂 There are so many really good ones out there (particularly of animals. I get stuck watching ones of kittens, frequently… despite my frustration at not being able to have one. But I can dream…! 🙂

Thanks Calee. I appreciate that you watched Henri. And I think the idea to use the cat sppeaking as a Frenchman and with subtitiles in English was a brilliant idea, too. The voice of the the Frenchman is actually Will Braden. If I remember correctly, it was his mother who tutored him in French so that he could do the voice of the cat. That might not be 100% correct- I’ll need to check that somehow. 🙂
I must have a very odd mind. As I watched this film I thought that Henri was actually the commentator for an old sick man stuck in bed, living out his last days. The sad music also possibly fuelled my imagination. I really believed that the last shot would be of the old man lying in bed staring out of the window. How wrong can you be?!

Yes, I think you should use Henri in a film. That would be too funny. Did you really work in geriatrics? If so you are doubly good. Now that I am old I fear going to a nursing home. I hope to die as both my parents- suddenly and with no warning. I must outlive all my pets though. 🙂

Oh my.That has made me cry after reading your reply. I am in a huge stew with worry if I will outlive my pets. But I can not imagine life with out a pet. I don’t know about your mom-in-law’s situationn but if possible sometimes a pet brings lots of happiness. If it could be assured that a family member could take her pet if she should leave this green earth, then a cat would be such comfort to her. Just a thought Kathy. 🙂
Yvonne, thanks for sharing that was brilliant. I thought the catflap bit was hilarious, I can so relate to that with my lot. However they keep head-butting it until it comes off it’s hinges, hence a newer, stronger model is shortly to be purchased 🙂
Claire, how safe are your cats when they go outdoors? I can not let mine explore the great oudoors. Predators, vehicles and, cruel people abound. But some of mine are in a special made barn with a very strong wire enclosure. However I don’t allow access to the run unless I make a note to be sure to herd then all back inside before nightfall.
I live quite a way from the road so my two cats that have access to the outside don’t generally go anywhere near the road, mainly because they are ageing in years and prefer to stay more indoors of late. I did have a cat that ventured up to the road, and sadly was killed, the annoying thing about it is we probably have about 10 cars maximum a day pass our house, but when they do they drive so fast it’s ridiculous. So he was definitely very unlucky.
We do not have any predators in Ireland, other than stray dogs. Our foxes even though could easily kill a cat will often stay well clear, I have seen my cats chase the fox so I’m not surprised 🙂
I have three indoor only cats, which we plan to build a run for them this year, so there maybe a blog spot about that.
Many years ago before I had a run built after losing I lost two cats to the street that wandered from our property. My husband would let them out. I could not take anymore sadness so that is how the runs came about. I worked for nearly 35 years and I made good money so I put money into my animals and that made me happy and still does to this day. I’d have lots more savings but I spent oodles on vet bills, housing, and food. I don’t take in more cats for the past 6-7 years but some strays turned up and I have given them a home. If one happened upon the doorstep I would take it in. I will not take an animal to the shelter. Some get adopted and some do not. It’s a good thing that you are not on a well traveled road. And the cat that was killed- well that happens. They don’t think as we’d like to believe that they do.

How about that Kathy? Each of us posted a video that the other blogger liked. I very much enjoyed Coulter and Jennings. In fact I’ve put that in my favorites list. Henri is he-man type of cat and exceeding handsome in my humble opinion. I bet your mother-in-law will be entertained by the video.
Presently I have a cat that is a huge tuxedo cat like Henri. I named him Boogie and he’s in a post along with several other cats, somewhere on this blog. Note: I was a tad short of originality when coming up with Boogie’s name I haven’t the faintest idea of how that name came to mind. He’s a gentle cat and a semi-feral former stray. (trapped him as a tom cat when he came to hang out here and did not leave. Loves to eat and weighs about 15-16 pounds. Of course he was neutered soon after I trapped him. Tamed fairly quickly.
Boogie sounds like a lovely cat. My mother-in-law’s cat (which looked like Henri) was named Bodine.

I’m not a lover of cats, stems from a Tom peeing in my open suitcase full of clothes, three hours before I was due to go to the airport, but I could get to like Henri. He has a certain outlook on life that gels with me.
Well, Mike not all can like everthing in this world. I’ve had some cats “mark” my things as well. I just don’t leave things out that look enticing. But you wrote “TOM.” A tom cat is one that is unneutered and that is almost always the reason for bad behavior. The other is that cats like soft things, especially clothes that have our odors. The other is that an open container is appealing to them for it looks like a litter box. None the less, I would have been irate myself re: the urinating on my clothes. Too bad for you and too bad for the cat. 🙂

One of our neighbours has her parents staying at the moment, and Partner asked her if they had keys for the block (following the Friday story) and he asked in Spanish – tienen las llaves? Avez-vous las clefs, I snapped at him when he came in to tell me the story as they don’t do Spanish!

Thanks fro viewing and commenting. Had to look up triste- should have known that from the context in which is was used. Depending upon one’s perspective, yes it is sad for the cat who is “withering away” just from being a house cat. On the other hand, where would he be, if he were roaming the streets? Quite an unsafe place for any homeless cat or dog. Pippa was rescued from the streets, if I am remembering correctly. Such a lucky dog to have been found or he found you and partner.
Anyhoo, the shaving cream and not whipping cream was, as you wrote, a funny bit but as far as Henri was/is concerned, his life is but one series of cruel jokes.
I will need to read again what Braden said about Henri. But this is some of what I remember. More or less Braden’s words: Henri is easy to photograph and is a pleasant cat to have in the household. Braden just takes advantage of the various behaviors and through observation and keeping his camera ready, he had been able to capture these expressipons of boredom, frustration and, other activities of Henri. The really funny part of it all is how Braden was/is so clever to caption the happenings. It works so well in French. 🙂

Penny you are so right about how we taunt pour cats. But what would life be for them of we did not? After all we are spicing up their otherwise boring existence, I think. 🙂 As you say, the video is quite true. Will Braden is quick witted and has a flare for comedy. Oh Yvonne, this is brilliant. It could only work in French. Eric Ca(n)tona, the great existentialist footballer, who was on a par with Camus, might have produced this. C’est magnifique, mais ce n’est pas la guerre: c’est le chat!
I really like your application of French to Henri. I needed to go to Sir Google to learn the exact meaning. I knew magnifique is magnificient and chat is cat. But your usage of the entire phrase applies to Henri. “It is beautiful but it is not war. It is the cat.” I just might add your brilliance to the little blurb that proceeds the video.
I was not sure if you would view this or not but then I remembered what you had written in some comments. You found a little street urchin and took the kitty to the vet. It was too sick to be saved. And you have written about your brother’s love for his Siamese cat/s.
